The Beginning

A lot of events can happen in eight years. Eight years, six months ago to be exact. In a way, May 28th was almost like a birthday to me. A day that has been implanted and repeated in my head so many times that it would be nearly impossible for me to forget. May 28th was just your average beginning of summer day. The bright yellow sun was merrily shining over the town of Orange Springs, Illinois. Clouds of many shapes danced across the blue sky the way ballerinas twirl around a stage. I was eleven years old and about to turn twelve on June 18th. Orange Springs was quite a small town, but the best one I have ever lived in. My closest friends lived within bike riding distance and my best friend Amanda lived down the street. Just a few days before May 28th, was my last day of elementary school. Amanda, Stacy, Monica, Melody, and I Valerie had a giant sleepover the night before the big day. Monica was the most outgoing in the group and the one most like a teenager. She had already started wearing bras and reading gossip magazines. Stacy was quiet but definitely not boring. Her dad is a pilot in the Marines and has traveled almost everywhere in the world. Melody is the funny one in the group and can make anyone smile during the roughest of times. Amanda is the one how will tell you how it is, no matter how much it hurts. She also is the one who gives us all advice and happens to my best friend. Me, I’m the one who loves taking chances but is sometimes too scared to take them. Dare me to eat a gallon of relish, I’ll do it. But dare me to walk up to the cutest boy in class and tell him he’s hot, I probably won’t. The sleepover we had the night of May 12th was one that will not be forgotten. It seemed that from then on, everything started to change. And then came the morning of May 28th.

Audition song for Freshman year?
I am 14 years old (a girl), and I am auditioning for the spring musical at my high school. As a freshie, I probably won’t get get in, but I would still like to have a really good audition. My range goes from a low g to a high g, although I can hit a whole note or two farther in either direction. I want a song that can really show off my voice, and it has to be a musical theatre song. Also, my teacher said it shouldn’t be in a "character voice" (like Annie Get Your Gun). Any suggestions? One good one would be prefferred over a huge list of possible songs. Also, if you have any monologue ideas, that would be awesome too. Thanks!!

What is wrong with my connection?
For the last month or so I’ve noticed my internet connection slowing down and in some cases just not working. It doesn’t matter what OS I use or if I’m using a hard line or wireless, the internet is just not working properly. When I try to open more then one website at once, all the pages fail to load (where in the past they loaded just fine). When either myself or my wife is playing an online game, we can’t use the internet on another computer or it won’t work (or the game will lag/drop). I don’t torrent and every speed test on the line says the line is good. What’s up?!? My service provider refuses to give me any support because the line is good so I’m up the creek without a paddle. Some one throw me a line, I’m drowning.

This is a problem felt by many people right now. The problem is ISP’s at the moment are literally running out of bandwidth to provide to its customers. It all ties into an aging hard line system and the fact that SMart phones & 3g networks are cluttering the air waves and causing slower speeds. The best way to remedy the situation is to reset your router and modem and maybe upgrade your PORTS on your computers so the transfer rates are greater.
